This is the second year our blog has been in existence and we are proud to be hosting our Second Annual DFWGambler.com Bracket Challenge. We think it will be a great opportunity for our subscribers, readers, and our Twitter followers to get together and compete to see who can pick the best bracket. With that being said, here’s answers to all the questions you might have.
What do I need to do to sign up? There are no strings attached. You don’t even have to sign up for a subscription or RSS feed to participate. (Though we’d love it if you did) You simply have to join our bracket, make your picks and pray your knowledge of college basketball will earn you the title of the Second Annual DFWGambler.com Bracket Challenge Champion and receive a trophy if you so choose. All we ask is that you are a citizen of the United States over the age of 18.
What’s the password? The password is RangersMavs
What is the deadline? The deadline to enter our bracket challenge is March 15, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. Eastern Time.
Is this your typical bracket challenge? No. To make things interesting the bracket scoring has been set up as “Add Seed” where the points equal the seed number of the winning team added to the weight for the given round. For example, if 16th ranked Boston University beats #1 Kansas, instead of earning just 1 point for that pick, the player will receive 17 points. This should make it really exciting for those of us who love to see the underdogs come out on top.
Round | Weight | Bonus |
Round 1 | 1 | Add Seed |
Round 2 | 2 | Add Seed |
Round 3 | 4 | Add Seed |
Round 4 | 8 | Add Seed |
Round 5 | 16 | Add Seed |
Round 6 | 32 | Add Seed |
Add Seed – Points equal the seed number of the winning team added to the weight for the given round. |
What will I win? Despite exhaustive research on the subject, for a second year in a row we were unable to put together a set of ironclad contest rules for this year’s bracket challenge that would shield us from all potential litigation. This being said we are unable to offer any prizes to the winner outside of trophies & certificates of achievement, Therefore, this is NOT a contest or a sweepstakes. Hopefully, by next year we will be able to put together a set of contest rules that will allow us to clean out the prize closet and reward our readers with prizes.
